The jar has restoration and over-painting to approximately half of the rim, restoration to the base, restoration and over-painting (circa 13 x 9cm.) to the lower middle body around the cloud-scrolls to the left of the pavilion, over-painting around the edge of the foot, small frits and nicks to the edges of the slip decoration and glaze scratches.

A hand-built pottery wine jar of a substantial size from the Cizhou Ware tradition with a concave circular base, a tall body of an inverted piriform shape, a rounded shoulder that tapers to a squat, cylindrical neck, and a thick rim surrounding the deep interior cavity. The body and neck were first glazed with a thick, off-white decoration.
